This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys teaching, connecting with people from diverse backgrounds, and helping others gain practical skills that can make everyday life easier.

The volunteer will lead a welcoming, conversational class focused on practical English skills that participants can use at work, at appointments, while shopping, and in their communities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead an engaging, beginner-friendly ESL class
    • Teach practical conversational English and everyday vocabulary
    • Develop or use simple lesson plans and activities
    • Encourage participation and create a supportive, judgment-free environment
    • Adapt lessons to the needs and abilities of participants

    Ideal Volunteer:

    • Comfortable teaching or facilitating a small group
    • Patient, friendly, and enthusiastic
    • Experience teaching ESL is required
    • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus
    • Enjoys working with adults from diverse cultural and language backgrounds

Time Commitment: Flexible; ideally a recurring class on a weekly or biweekly basis.

    Why Volunteer with BVMI?

Your time can make a meaningful difference. For someone learning English, being able to communicate more confidently can open doors to employment, education, healthcare, and greater independence. At BVMI, we believe that helping people build stronger lives goes beyond medical care—and sometimes starts with simply helping someone find the right words.
