    Description

Impact the Future of Gender Freedom

Gender Freedom Society is seeking a diligent and creative Volunteer Grant Writer to help us fuel our mission. In this role, you won't just be filling out forms; you will be the architect of our funding strategy, directly enabling programs that support the transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) community.

As a key partner to our leadership team, you will manage the grant lifecycle end-to-end from discovering new opportunities to crafting the narratives that secure our future.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Strategy & Research: Identify high-alignment funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
    • Grant Writing: Draft, edit, and submit high-quality proposals and letters of inquiry (LOIs) that clearly articulate our goals.
    • Relationship Management: Help develop and maintain long-term relationships with funders and stakeholders.
    • Process Ownership: Manage the grant calendar, ensuring all deadlines, compliance requirements, and post-award reports are met.
    • Collaboration: Work with staff to "translate" our community impact into data-driven, compelling stories for donors.

    Qualifications

    • Experience: 2+ years in grant writing or technical writing is preferred, but we welcome talented writers with a passion for social justice.
    • Skills: Exceptional research skills and the ability to synthesize complex project goals into clear, persuasive prose.
    • Reliability: Strong project management skills; you are someone who never misses a deadline.
    • Tech Savvy: Comfortable with fundraising databases and virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Workspace).
    • Alignment: Deep commitment to the mission of the Gender Freedom Society and an understanding of the challenges facing the TGNC community.

    What’s In It For You?

    • Build Your Portfolio: Gain experience and measurable "wins" for your professional writing portfolio.
    • Networking: Work directly with non-profit leaders and regional funders.
    • Flexibility: This is a 100% remote role with a flexible schedule (estimated 1–3 hours per week).
    • Direct Impact: See the tangible results of your work in the community resources your grants provide.
