Volunteer Author Opportunity in Animal Welfare Awareness Journal

    About UVFA

UVFA (United Voices for Animals) is a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to promoting compassion, animal welfare education, and community-driven advocacy.

About the Tales of Tails Journal

Tales of Tails is UVFA’s digital awareness journal focused on educating the public about animal welfare. The journal features stories from shelters, educational articles, pet care guidance, interviews, and community issues affecting animals. Our mission is to amplify voices that often go unheard — and inspire empathy through storytelling.

Volunteer Opportunity: Tales of Tails Author

The Tales of Tails Author role is a creative volunteer opportunity for students who want to use writing, storytelling, and journalism to raise awareness about animal welfare. As an author, you will contribute original pieces to UVFA’s online awareness journal, helping educate communities, highlight shelter needs, and inspire empathy for animals.

    What You’ll Do

    • Write at least 1 article per month on topics related to animal welfare, shelter stories, pet care, rescue efforts, wildlife, or community issues
    • Craft engaging stories, educational pieces, or thought-provoking opinion articles
    • Collaborate with the Project Lead and other authors to brainstorm new topics
    • Revise your drafts and research accurate information
    • Optional: interview shelter staff or volunteers (optional)

    What We’re Looking For

    • Students ages 13–22
    • Passion for writing, storytelling, or journalism
    • Interest in animal welfare and community advocacy
    • Creativity, reliability, and the ability to meet monthly deadlines
    • No prior experience required — just motivation and willingness to grow

    What You Gain

    • Real writing, journalism, and content creation experience
    • Stand our extracurricular for college applications
    • A published portfolio to use for resumes or internships
    • Community service hours
    • Mentorship, editing support, and feedback
    • Opportunity to grow into Editor or Project Lead positions

    Why It Matters

Your writing helps educate communities, spotlight important issues, and give animals a voice. Every article has the power to inspire kindness, support shelters, and create meaningful change.
