Become a Pet Pal Volunteer
Share the Love of a Pet with Hospice Patients
Brighten someone’s day by bringing your furry companion to visit hospice patients in private homes or nursing and assisted living facilities. Our Pet Pal Volunteers offer comfort, joy, and emotional support to patients who may no longer be able to care for pets of their own.
These visits are often the highlight of a patient’s week, your time (and your pet’s presence) truly makes a difference.
What Makes a Great Pet Pal Team?
- Volunteers and pets who are calm, friendly, and adaptable
- Comfortable in new environments, around small crowds, and with occasional noise
- Confident and caring communicators
Eligible Pets Include:
- Dogs
- Cats
- Other small, well-trained animals (please ask if you're unsure)
Therapy, emotional support, and service animals are welcome!
All Volunteers Must:
- Complete a volunteer application and training
- Pass a background check/fingerprinting/TB test
- Have a valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance
All Pets Must:
- Be up to date on all vaccinations
- Provide current shot records
- Have completed the appropriate certification
