Volunteer Mentor – Help a Student Build Their Future
Details
Description
Foundation For CHOICE is looking for caring, committed professionals to mentor students as they prepare for college, careers, and life after high school.
Since 2014, Foundation For CHOICE has worked to break the cycle of poverty by providing students with the mentoring, accountability, resources, and real-world guidance they need to create a successful future.
What Does a Mentor Do?
You do not need to be a teacher, counselor, or college expert to be a great mentor.
Our mentors serve as trusted adults who help students:
- Set and work toward meaningful goals
- Explore college and career opportunities
- Build resumes and prepare for interviews
- Search and apply for scholarships
- Strengthen communication and critical-thinking skills
- Navigate decisions about life after high school
- Build confidence, accountability, and professional skills
We provide the curriculum, training, resources, and ongoing support. You bring your experience, perspective, encouragement, and willingness to show up for a student.
The Commitment
Mentoring opportunities are available in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, with both in-person and virtual opportunities depending on the program.
Most mentors commit to structured meetings throughout the school year. Our team provides agendas and resources so you always know what to work on with your student.
Who Makes a Great Mentor?
We are looking for professionals from all industries and career paths who:
- Believe every student deserves access to opportunity
- Can be consistent and dependable
- Enjoy helping young people discover their potential
- Are willing to listen, ask questions, and guide rather than simply give students the answers
- Can commit to building a meaningful mentoring relationship
Why Mentor?
Sometimes the most valuable thing you can give a student isn't an answer—it's access to someone who helps them realize what is possible.
Your career experience, your mistakes, your lessons learned, and the things you wish someone had taught you at their age can make an incredible difference.
And you don't have to do it alone. Foundation For CHOICE gives mentors the tools and structure to make their time with students meaningful.
