Description
The Volunteer Bookkeeper will help maintain accurate financial records, support monthly financial reporting, organize financial documentation, and assist with invoicing and recording payments to help manage the day-to-day financial administration of the organization. This is an important volunteer role that will help strengthen CAFY's financial accountability, grant compliance, and organizational sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Monitor outstanding invoices, receivables, and payments
- Review transactions for accuracy and proper documentation.
- Maintain organized electronic and paper financial records.
- Assist in tracking expenses by program, grant, and funding source when applicable.
- Assist with preparing documentation for the annual audit, tax filings, and other financial reviews.
- Work with the Executive Director and/or designated financial professional to identify discrepancies or financial concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality of organizational, employee, donor, client, and financial information.
- Provide recommendations for improving bookkeeping procedures and financial recordkeeping.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization.
- Familiarity with nonprofit financial practices and grant-funded programs preferred.
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software preferred.
