    Description

Make a Real Impact: Support Communities Across the Caribbean & Africa

Overview: Planet Aid, in collaboration with Richmond Vale Academy (RVA), is calling on individuals who are passionate about creating meaningful change to join the People 2 People Volunteer Program. This 10-month immersive experience offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on major global challenges — from poverty and inequality to climate resilience and sustainable community development. Volunteers learn to become thoughtful, effective change-makers by working alongside local communities, supporting community-led solutions, and contributing to long-term, sustainable progress. If you’re driven by purpose and ready to support real social impact, this program gives you the chance to be part of something bigger than yourself.

    Program Structure:

    Phase 1: Training (3 Months)

Begin with three months of immersive learning that explore global inequalities, cultural perspectives, and sustainable development practices. Through hands-on activities and collaborative workshops, you’ll build the foundations of community-centered work — including teamwork, active listening, and ethical project engagement. This phase prepares you to support community-driven solutions with respect and understanding.

Phase 2: Project Work (6 Months)

Spend six months working directly with local partners on long-term initiatives that strengthen community resilience. Whether supporting education, health, sustainable agriculture, or climate action, you’ll contribute to projects designed and led by the communities themselves. This is where impact becomes real — where you collaborate, build trust, and apply your skills to support meaningful, sustainable change.

    Phase 3: Reflection & Evaluation (1 Month)

Your final month is dedicated to reflecting on the impact of your work and the relationships you’ve built. Through group discussions and guided evaluation, you’ll explore how the experience has shaped your worldview, deepened your understanding of global issues, and contributed to community progress. This phase helps you integrate your learning and prepare to carry your commitment to social impact into your next steps.

    Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement: Partner with local communities to understand their priorities and support sustainable, community-led solutions. You’ll contribute to initiatives in areas such as health, education, climate resilience, and livelihoods — always working in collaboration, not in isolation.

Project Implementation: Engage in hands-on work that strengthens long-term development efforts. This may include facilitating workshops, supporting grassroots projects, or helping teach practical skills like sustainable farming, nutrition, or leadership. Every task contributes to building stronger, more resilient communities.

Cultural Exchange: Build genuine relationships with community members and learn from their lived experiences. This program emphasizes mutual learning — sharing your own skills while embracing new perspectives and deepening your understanding of global issues.

Support & Learning: Throughout the program, you’ll receive structured guidance from RVA instructors, mentors, and fellow volunteers. You’ll develop the knowledge, humility, and practical skills needed to contribute responsibly and respectfully to community-driven change.

Reflection & Growth: Take part in discussions and reflection sessions that help you measure impact — both within the community and within yourself. This space allows you to process what you’ve learned, recognize your growth, and carry your commitment to social impact into your future path.

    Behavioral Expectations:

As a participant in the People to People Volunteer Program, you’ll be joining communities that trust us to show up with respect, integrity, and genuine care. To honor that responsibility, the program follows a strict no-drugs, no-marijuana, and no-alcohol policy for the full 10 months. Maintaining a sober environment ensures everyone’s safety and well-being and helps protect the dignity of the communities we partner with. It also creates space for deep connection, focused learning, and meaningful impact — the heart of social-change work. We ask all volunteers to commit to this policy so we can uphold the values of the program and continue to create a supportive, responsible, and respectful environment for everyone involved.

Note: Volunteers must be committed to the full 10-month program and have the flexibility to travel and adapt to new cultural environments.
