    Description

The Jeannine Kiely for New York State Assembly campaign is seeking Interns to support this competitive Democratic primary in Lower Manhattan. This internship is for current students or recent graduates and provides a hands-on opportunity for individuals interested in learning how a competitive, grassroots political campaign operates.

Interns will support voter engagement and campaign operations while gaining exposure to field organizing, events, communications, and day-to-day campaign work. Interns will work closely with staff and volunteers. Training, supervision and feedback are provided throughout the program.

    Intern responsibilities may include:

    • Assisting with voter outreach, including supervised phone-banking, canvassing, petitioning, and text outreach
    • Supporting volunteer recruitment and engagement, including helping onboard and support new volunteers
    • Representing the campaign at community events, street outreach, and neighborhood activities
    • Helping track voter and volunteer interactions using campaign tools
    • Assisting with research on district issues, community concerns, and policy priorities
    • Providing general campaign support, including preparing materials and helping staff stay organized

    Interns will gain experience in:

    • How local and state elections work in New York
    • Grassroots organizing and voter engagement strategies
    • Public speaking and persuasive communication
    • Teamwork and leadership in a fast-paced environment
    • Civic responsibility and democratic participation

We offer flexible commitment options to accommodate school schedules:

    • Minimum: 3–5 hours per week
    • Preferred: 5–10 hours per week
    • Scheduling is flexible (after school and weekends available)

This opportunity is a great fit for students who:

    • Are curious about politics, government, or social issues
    • Want hands-on experience beyond the classroom
    • Enjoy talking to people and working as part of a team
    • Are reliable and willing to learn
    • Live in or are connected to Lower Manhattan (helpful but not required)

    Academic Credit & Community Service

    • Academic credit and/or community service documentation may be available, depending on school requirements
    • We are happy to work with guidance counselors or program administrators when needed
