    Description

    The Vice President of Development is a strategic, mission-driven leader responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to advance the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability. This volunteer role partners closely with the executive board to design and execute a comprehensive development strategy that significantly grow revenue, sustains and scales the organization’s mission and impact.

    Strategic Leadership & Fundraising

    • Develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals.
    • Set and achieve ambitious annual revenue targets across diverse funding streams.
    • Identify new funding opportunities, including major donors, foundations, corporations, and government grants.
    • Lead capital campaigns, endowment growth, and special fundraising initiatives.

    Major Gifts & Donor Relations

    • Manage a personal portfolio of high-net-worth donors and prospects.
    • Cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts (typically $5k or higher).
    • Partner with the President and Board to engage donors in meaningful ways.
    • Build long-term donor relationships and increase donor retention and lifetime value.

    Partnership Development

    • Build and manage strategic partnerships with corporations, foundations, and community stakeholders.
    • Align funding opportunities with programmatic initiatives (e.g., housing restoration, disaster relief, family support)
    • Elevate the organization’s visibility and credibility within philanthropic and social impact ecosystems

    Qualifications

    Experience in fundraising, development, sales, partnerships, or nonprofit leadership

    Strong relationship-building and communication skills

    Strategic thinker with the ability to execute and drive results

    Experience with donor management systems (CRM) preferred

    Passion for the organization’s mission and community impact
