Details
Description
Join a cause where you'll make a difference, meet new people, lift up lives. We're a 10 year old 501(c)3, with a 4* Charity Navigator (meaning exceptional) rating.
Putnam Service Dogs seeks a Board member who will support and help our growth as they provide service dogs to Veterans with PTSD and people with physical disabilities at no charge. We train rescue dogs as our service dogs. Our dogs are truly life changing, and our program is life changing for the dogs we select to train. We lift up 2 lives. Our current Board is a hard working group of busy folks, passionate about our cause and our organization.
Our Board of Directors meets every two months, generally virtual, and generally 6-7:30pm. You will be expected to read all Board Material distributed before the meeting to be prepared for the meeting. Oversight is one of your main functions as a Board Member.
You'll be an ambassador to your network, and our community to bring in new supporters. We'll teach you as much as you want to know to represent our organization to the community.
You will also be expected to donate to us annually, and attend our fundraising events (generally two a year) - either as an attendee or a volunteer. There is no public money for service dog schools so we rely on donations and grants for our support. The demand for our dogs is overwhelming. We're receiving 30 applications/month for our 9 dogs in training.
