Details
Description
Healthful Stories is a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that conducts in-depth interviews with people living with chronic and complex health conditions. We exist to document the real patient journey: the delays, the barriers, and the turning points in a way that will have the greatest impact on those living with similar illnesses. Sustaining that work depends on building a community of individual donors who believe the patient voice deserves a permanent place in how healthcare learns and improves.
This role is distinct from grant writing. As our Fundraiser, you will focus on individual giving — identifying prospective donors, supporting outreach and relationship cultivation, helping develop donor communications, and contributing to fundraising campaigns. You'll work alongside our Executive Director to build the individual giving infrastructure that early-stage nonprofits often lack but urgently need.
Responsibilities include:
- Researching prospective individual donors aligned with Healthful Stories' mission
- Drafting donor outreach emails, thank-you letters, and campaign copy
- Supporting the development and execution of giving campaigns (end-of-year, Giving Tuesday, etc.)
- Helping maintain donor records and tracking outreach activity
- Identifying and evaluating peer-to-peer fundraising opportunities
You bring:
- Background or interest in nonprofit development, fundraising, communications, or marketing
- Strong writing skills and comfort with donor-facing messaging
- Attention to detail and follow-through on outreach timelines
- Experience with donor CRM tools (Salesforce, Bloomerang, or similar) is a plus but not required
- Comfort working directly with a founder/Executive Director in a lean organization
What you'll gain: Hands-on individual giving experience at a mission-driven nonprofit - a direct credential for careers in nonprofit development, healthcare philanthropy, and foundation relations. You'll develop real fundraising collateral, participate in campaign strategy, and gain exposure to the full donor lifecycle from prospect research through stewardship.
