    Description

Community Volunteer Team Leader - Medical Equipment Cleaning Events

    About Assist ME

Assist ME restores independence and mobility to low-income and uninsured patients across the Charlotte area by providing gently used medical equipment—free of charge. Every walker, wheelchair, and cane we place helps someone regain freedom, safety, and dignity.

    The Opportunity

We’re looking for caring, reliable Volunteer Team Leaders to supervise our weekly equipment cleaning sessions. You’ll lead small teams of student volunteers, ages 13–17, ensuring that donated medical equipment is properly cleaned, checked, labeled, and prepared for reuse.

This is an ideal opportunity for those who enjoy mentoring, teamwork, and hands-on service. It’s especially suited for community leaders, educators, retirees, or anyone looking to make a meaningful, weekly contribution to local healthcare access.

    What You’ll Do

    • Lead and motivate 4–8 teen volunteers during 2-hour sessions.
    • Teach simple cleaning and sanitizing procedures (training provided).
    • Inspect and label cleaned equipment, then scan items into inventory.
    • Promote a safe, engaging, and purposeful volunteer environment.

    What We Provide

All cleaning supplies, labels, and scanning tools are provided. You’ll receive orientation, on-site support, and the opportunity to personally see how your leadership improves health outcomes in your community.

    Why It Matters

Each cleaned wheelchair, shower chair, or walker represents a real person regaining independence after medical treatment. By leading these youth volunteers, you help ensure equipment is safe, accessible, and ready to improve lives.
