Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency (BOSS) is a community-based nonprofit organization working to end homelessness, poverty, and systemic socio-economic injustice. BOSS provides housing and social services to 6,000 low-income, disabled, and/or violence-impacted families and individuals every year.
We need COMMUNITY OUTREACH VOLUNTEERS to help us raise awareness about BOSS' work! Volunteers will bring brochures and flyers to local businesses to see who will let us put our materials in their stores or windows, who is willing to donate cash or goods or have 'donate days' where part of the proceeds go to BOSS, or who might want to have an employee volunteer day!
This is, essentially, an easy and fun INFORMATION GATHERING project -- volunteers will approach local business owners to find out what kinds of charitable work they currently do, and whether they would be interested in supporting BOSS! Volunteers will just make the initial inquiry, then pass their contact information back to staff. Easy! And a great way to meet local business people and find out which ones are able to engage in charitable activities.
Need volunteers to visit businesses in Berkeley, Oakland, OR Hayward -- even though this portal is only letting us choose ONE city :(
Please email bossbayarea@self-sufficiency.org if you are interested in this opportunity!
