We are looking for a data-savvy volunteer to help us with a demographic mapping project. In this role, you will help us build a clearer picture of the communities we serve and identify areas where our resources are needed most.
How It Works: You will be combining public datasets with our internal metrics to create powerful visual stories. Specifically, you will:
- Pull Public Census Data: Gather relevant demographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau (such as income levels, age distribution, education, or household density) for our target neighborhoods.
- Layer Our Internal Data: We will provide some (not much) —such as home daycare locations —to be overlayed onto the demographic maps.
Tools: You are welcome to use whatever mapping or data visualization tools you are most comfortable with. Whether you prefer ArcGIS, open-source GIS tools like QGIS, data visualization platforms like Tableau or PowerBI, or even coding your own maps using Python or R, the choice is entirely yours.
