Kristopher (Kris) is a friedly 7 year old boy who loves playing soccer, but he has a hard time keeping friends becasue he has moved 3 times in the last year. He has attended 3 different schools and moved from his family's home, to a foster home, to a realtive's home while his parents are working on their treatment plans to reunify the family.
Kris's CASA volunteer, Quinn, has been by his side through the moves and school changes consistently speaking up for what Kris needs along the way. A CASA volunteer visits with the children assigned to them and talks with parents, foster parents, relatives, teachers, counselors, and treatment providers to provide the Juvenile Court recommendations for what is in the child's best interest. A CASA volunteer provides hope and support to help change a child's story.
The role of the Court Appointed Speical Advocate (CASA) volunteer is tremendously important. If you are passionate about helping abused and neglected children, or have an interest in child welfare or juvenile law, CASA may be the right volunteer oppportunity.
