    Description

Tiaki Taonga Trust seeks a dynamic and experienced Senior Graphic Designer to create impactful visual content. Expertise in branding, digital media, and sustainability-focused design is essential, aligning with the trust's mission to inspire environmental and community engagement.

    **Purpose of the Role**

The Graphic and Digital Media Design Specialist is responsible for creating, producing, and managing visual and multimedia content that reflects the vision, values, and kaupapa Māori (principles and philosophies) of Tiaki Taonga Trust Wai 262. This role develops professional, high-quality digital assets — including graphics, documents, videos, and audio materials — for both internal and external communication, ensuring that every design upholds Tikanga Māori (customs and ethics), cultural authenticity, and brand consistency.

    **Key Responsibilities**

    • Design and produce visual content such as brochures, reports, infographics, digital campaigns, and presentations.
    • Develop multimedia content including short-form videos, animations, podcasts, and digital stories that showcase the Trust’s kaupapa and achievements.
    • Collaborate with the Communication and Media Lead and Website Development and Design Manager to ensure a cohesive brand presence across all platforms.
    • Edit and prepare promotional materials for online publication, social media, and printed media.
    • Manage the organisation’s digital asset library and ensure copyright, licensing, and cultural permissions are upheld.
    • Apply cultural design principles to ensure Māori motifs, imagery, and narratives are represented respectfully and accurately.
    • Maintain visual and audio quality standards, file naming conventions, and secure storage of design materials.
    • Support campaign launches, events, and digital marketing initiatives through design and creative production.

    **Qualifications and Experience**

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Creative Arts, or a related field.
    • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in digital design, multimedia production, or creative communication roles.
    • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects) or equivalent design suites.
    • Experience with video editing, motion graphics, and audio post-production.
    • Understanding of web and social media design standards, including accessibility and responsive layouts.
    • Proven ability to incorporate Tikanga Māori and Kaupapa Māori into design processes and outputs.
    • Strong communication, time management, and project delivery skills.

    **Skills and Attributes**

    • Creative, detail-oriented, and innovative thinker.
    • Strong ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
    • Commitment to cultural integrity, confidentiality, and inclusiveness.
    • Technical competence in digital platforms and file optimisation.
    • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.

    **Cultural Understanding**

The Graphic and Digital Media Design Specialist must uphold Tikanga Māori (customs, ethics, and protocols) and Kaupapa Māori (collective principles) in all design work. Visual and multimedia outputs must strengthen Māori identity, protect cultural intellectual property, and promote respect for Te Ao Māori (the Māori worldview) while being accessible to audiences of all nationalities.

    **Reporting and Accountability**

Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Responsible for the creation and management of all visual and digital media assets for the Trust, ensuring that design outputs meet both professional and cultural standards.
