    About Rooted Interiors

Rooted Interiors is a faith-based nonprofit that helps families transition from homelessness to stability by fully furnishing their new permanent housing. Our mission is to create peaceful, personalized homes that restore dignity and spark hope.

    Role Overview

Rooting Day Design Team Members are at the heart of our mission. These volunteers take the lead in transforming empty spaces into warm, welcoming homes. From planning layouts to styling finishing touches, you’ll help design and execute home setups for families stepping into a new chapter.

As a Design Team member, you'll have access to Rooted Interiors’ storage units to select furniture, decor, and home goods for upcoming Rooting Days. You’ll communicate with our Executive Director and Volunteer Coordinator to share inventory needs, ensuring our Rooted Ambassadors know what items still need to be donated. Your creativity and leadership help bring each home to life.

    Responsibilities

    • Complete home visits for the families we will serve, to meet the family and take measurements and photos of the spaces
    • Attend and lead Rooting Days (move-in/setup days) as a member of the design team
    • Collaborate with our volunteer coordinator and other volunteers to plan and execute furniture layout, decor placement, and final staging
    • Assist with unloading and setting up furniture, home goods, and decor items
    • Ensure that each space is functional, safe, and beautifully designed to reflect the family’s needs and personality
    • Maintain a spirit of excellence, care, and compassion during every home setup
    • Communicate with Rooted Interiors staff and other team members to ensure smooth logistics and coordination
    • Occasionally assist with sourcing or organizing donated home goods

    Qualifications

    • Experience in interior design and/or staging
    • Familiarity with styling accessories (pillows, wall art, kitchen setups, etc.)
    • Ability to lift light to moderate items (with help) and move around during setup
    • Creative eye for design, attention to detail, and an understanding of space planning
    • Flexibility, reliability, and strong teamwork skills
    • Respectful, compassionate attitude toward families we serve
    • Alignment with Rooted Interiors’ mission and values

    What You’ll Gain

    • A hands-on way to use your creative gifts for good
    • A chance to directly impact the lives of families starting fresh
    • Community and connection with a purpose-driven volunteer team
