Director of Non-Profit Partnerships

Volunteering Untapped Chicago is looking for a new Director of Non-Profit Partnerships! Please note this is an unpaid volunteer position with a 2-year term. The term officially starts January 1, 2027, with a mandatory onboarding period prior.

Overview: The Nonprofit Partnerships Director helps seek out our monthly non-profit partners by creating new connections with non-profits we haven't worked with before while also maintaining solid relationships with partners we've collaborated with in the past. We are looking for an organized, effective communicator, who is willing to bring new ideas to the table and collaborate with the rest of the board to further evolve the organization. The Director of Non-Profit Partnerships would take on the below tasks, which takes on average 2-3 hours per week, outside of board meetings, which are a 1-2 hour bi-weekly commitment that falls outside of normal business hours (~6pm start time).

Role Responsibilities & Requirements:

• Oversee Nonprofit Partnership Committee, which includes Nonprofit Partnership coordinator(s).

• Research new opportunities for volunteer events and follow up with a phone call or email (typically phone calls happen during business hours).

• Organize and plan volunteer events with non-profit volunteer coordinators from other organizations, either by phone or email.

• Participate during the event and act as a point of contact for group leaders and volunteers with questions.

• Understand Volunteering Untapped's volunteer model to schedule appropriate events. This includes saying "no" to partnerships that will not work and being rejected by non-profits who do not see a successful future partnership with us.

• Maintain a spreadsheet of non-profits contacted and update profiles of non-profit partners.

Leadership Team Responsibilities:

• Attend a minimum of 10 monthly events a year.
• Attend bi-weekly board meetings (held virtually, in the evening)
• Communicate via Slack with all VU Chicago board and committee members, as an open forum and method of organization.

• Participate in quarterly in-person Leadership team meetings. This is typically a 2-3 hour commitment 4 times a year outside of normal business hours (~6pm start time).

• Arrive at monthly events early and stay late to assist with set up and clean up of events.

• Participate in yearly leadership retreat, monthly volunteering events, quarterly fundraisers, and social events

• Assist with other board member duties, when extra help is needed.
