    Description

    1. Preparing, cooking, and serving meals for our clients in shelter
    2. Assist with cleaning dishes and the serving area as needed

    Basic volunteer qualifications involved with this assignment: Ability to follow basic kitchen safety and sanitation guidelines Comfortable working in a shared kitchen environment Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to assist with light lifting, carrying, and moving kitchen supplies as needed Dependable, respectful, and able to follow staff direction Willingness to support a welcoming and respectful environment for survivors

    Who will be served by this assignment? Survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking in our shelter.

    What is the anticipated benefit of this volunteer service to those receiving the service? Kitchen volunteers help create a welcoming and supportive environment by assisting with meal preparation and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen space. Access to prepared meals helps ensure that survivors and families have reliable nourishment and comfort while staying in our shelter

    What specific skills will the volunteer need? Basic food preparation skills (washing, chopping, assembling simple items) Ability to organize and clean kitchen spaces Attention to cleanliness and food safety practices Ability to work independently or collaboratively with staff and other volunteers Sensitivity to working in a confidential environment that supports survivors
