    Description

Are You Interested in Sharing Your Family's Legacy?

    Our Mission:

Through this initiative, we provide a platform for individuals like you to preserve and share the family stories and legends that have been passed down through generations, whether in written form or oral tradition. These stories are not just memories; they are threads in the larger fabric of history. Your contributions ensure that these voices are heard, cherished, and preserved for the future. Together, we’re not just preserving history–we’re making it personal, inclusive, and alive for generations to come.

    Why?

In our traditional educational system, we are taught the grand narratives of history, but

rarely are we encouraged to explore how our personal histories and family stories intersect

with and enrich those narratives. The Legacy Project is here to make a difference.

    Requirements:

    • Volunteer (the author of the story) must be a Middle or High School student
    • No formal word limit, however, recommendation is about 300-500 words
    • Historically Accurate: Based on real people, events, and family accounts
    • Authentic: Original and not fictionalized or invented
    • Each story you write is worth one community service hour, and you can write an unlimited amount (no repeated same story submission about the same person, as they will not earn any hours)
