AccentCare Hospice Direct Patient Volunteers are an integral part of the hospice team. They have the opportunity to make a profound difference in the quality of life for individuals who are facing a terminal illness and their families.
Friendly Visitors or Direct Patient Care Volunteers enrich the lives of patients by providing emotional support and companionship for the patient and their families within their home residence or care facility.
Volunteers can help in various ways through compassionate active listening, reading, listening to music, making crafts, helping patients make a legacy project, watching movies, and more. Volunteers also help bring comfort to the family by being an understanding presence and/or helping with light household chores.
Friendly Visitors or Direct Patient Care Volunteers who have direct patient contact will need to complete AccentCare volunteer training, have valid identification, successfully pass a background check, and complete a TB Test/health assessment. Background checks and TB Tests/health assessments are paid for by Accentcare. Volunteers need to be 18 years or older.
