N.O.D.A. (No One Dies Alone)
Details
Description
"The human spirit fails when it is forgotten. But it heals when it is seen."
No one should have to face their final hours in silence or solitude. Whether a patient has no living family, or their loved ones are simply miles away or exhausted by grief, N.O.D.A. (No One Dies Alone) ensures that every person is met with dignity and compassion at the end of their journey.
We are looking for Compassionate Companions to sit vigil—to hold a hand, play soft music, read aloud, or simply offer the comfort of a quiet presence. This isn't just about being in a room; it’s about ensuring that in their most vulnerable moment, no one feels abandoned.
Why this matters:
- Human Connection: You provide an emotional and spiritual bridge so that it can truly be said, "They were not alone."
- Support for Families: You offer a much-needed breath of air for families who are emotionally exhausted or are traveling to say goodbye.
- Flexible Commitment: When a vigil begins (typically the final 24–48 hours of life), we reach out—but you set your own hours based on your availability.
We support you so you can support them:
Freedom Hospice provides all necessary training and screenings (Background check, Drug Screen, TB testing) to ensure you feel prepared and confident in this sacred space.
We provide a kit and tote for your N.O.D.A. essentials.
This is a rare and profound opportunity. It takes a special heart to sit in the stillness of life’s final chapter, but for those who do, the impact is eternal.
