Description
Help Match Rescue Dogs with the Foster Families That Save Their Lives
Every rescue dog needs somewhere safe to land. As a Volunteer Foster Matchmaker, you'll play a critical behind-the-scenes role by connecting incoming rescue dogs with the foster families best suited for their needs. Your work directly helps dogs leave overcrowded shelters, receive the care they deserve, and begin their journey toward adoption.
This is a remote volunteer opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, staying organized, and making thoughtful matches that set both dogs and fosters up for success.
Responsibilities
- Review incoming dogs and their individual needs, including age, size, medical considerations, energy level, and temperament.
- Match approved foster families with dogs based on their experience and preferences.
- Send foster opportunity emails using our database and email platform.
- Communicate with approved fosters to answer questions and coordinate placements.
- Collaborate with our Intake, Foster, Medical, and Adoption teams to ensure smooth placements.
- Conduct virtual FaceTime home visits for foster applicants when needed.
- Help update internal tracking systems to keep placement information organized and current.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Can commit approximately 5-7 hours per week.
- Checks email consistently and responds in a timely manner.
- Is highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Communicates professionally, warmly, and confidently.
- Works well independently while collaborating with a remote team.
- Is comfortable making thoughtful decisions and balancing multiple priorities.
- Has experience fostering, adopting, volunteering with an animal rescue, or working with dogs (strongly preferred).
- Is comfortable learning new systems such as Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and email platforms. Experience with Mailchimp is a plus, but not required.
Time Commitment
- Remote
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week
- Ongoing volunteer opportunity with flexible scheduling
- Some availability during weekdays is helpful when coordinating incoming dogs.
