Each month, a large delivery comes from the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank for the Allies food pantry. We need assistance unloading the trucks, bringing the food to our second floor and loading it into the pantry. Lunch is provided at noon!
REQUIREMENTS: You’ll need to wear closed-toe shoes. If you are not comfortable lifting heavy-ish boxes of max 40lbs, we can have you stationed in the pantry to stock items after they are brought up or breaking down boxes. If you feel comfortable lifting, we will need your help loading the food on carts and rolling them to the elevator.
There are steps to get to the front door, or a ramp located at the corner of Harvard St. and N. Whitfield. The front door is under the archway on N. Whitfield and when you arrive, you can use the intercom at the front door to buzz up to the sixth floor and let the front desk know you are here to volunteer.
The food pantry is on the sixth floor directly in front of you when you get off the elevator and enter the first set of doors. You can let Randi, our food pantry coordinator, know you have arrived and she'll let you know what to do!
