Volunteer with Safe Parking LA to help provide warm meals to those in need.
Why:
By volunteering as a Meal Provider, you're not just sharing food you're offering warmth, dignity, and connection. Your presence helps build a sense of community, making a critical difference in the daily lives of participants by nourishing both body and spirit during their journey toward stability.
Who:
Safe Parking LA provides safe overnight parking to facilitate stability and housing in Los Angeles County for individuals living in their vehicles, and advocates for fair and equitable treatment and resources for the unhoused.
What to Expect:
- Prepare or Purchase Meals: Volunteers may cook meals at home or buy ready-made food to serve to participants.
- Coordinate with SPLA Staff: Confirm the meal plan, dietary needs, location, date, and time prior to the visit.
- Distribute Meals On-Site: Help with setup, serve meals, and clean up afterward in collaboration with staff and fellow volunteers.
- Engage Respectfully with Participants: Create a welcoming and compassionate environment while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
What's Required:
- Orientation or Training.
- 3-month minimum commitment. Recurring on a monthly or biweekly basis. 2-3 hours serving food on the lot on a weekday evening.
