The Whittier Birthplace seeks volunteer guides to assist with museum tours and special events during the 2026 open season (May through October).
The Whittier Birthplace offers tours of the c.1688 historic house museum by reservation May through October. Once a tour request is made by visitors, an email will be sent to the group of tour guides seeking availability on the requested date. We do not have regularly scheduled tour times. Special events require guides to assist with leading tours, assisting visitors with parking/wayfinding on the 68 acre property, and/or leading activity stations. Daytime, evening, midweek, and weekend opportunities are available.
Volunteer guides should be comfortable speaking in front of small groups of visitors. A tour manual and training will be provided.
The museum is not fully accessible. There are two steps up into the c.1688 historic house and a stone path up a small hill leading to the door from the street. Once inside, doorways are narrow with raised thresholds.
Please send a note of interest with any relevant experience and your general availability.
