Processing Donated Building Materials
Details
Description
The Reuse Center at Boston Building Resources takes in donations of reusable building materials and makes them available at affordable prices so lower-income homeowners can keep their homes in good repair. This also helps the environment by keeping reusable materials out of the landfill.
We are seeking volunteers to help receive and process donated materials. This includes unloading and loading, moving materials onto our sales floor, arranging materials to create displays, cleaning, assembly/disassembly (such as assembling light fixtures or removing doorknobs from doors), measuring, and online research into the value of the materials. You may use tools such as an electric drill. Many of our college student volunteers leave town for the summer, and we need some extra help!
Volunteers should plan on working one three-hour shift per week, Tuesdays-Saturdays. The shift can be chosen based on availability within the hours of operation listed below:
Tuesdays: 10:00am - 2:00pm
Wednesdays: 12:00pm - 5:00pm
Thursdays: 10:00am - 7:00pm
Fridays: 10:00am - 6:00pm
Saturday: 10:00am - 5:00pm
All volunteers are welcomed, would love help specifically for Thursday's and Friday's afternoons. Sturdy shoes are required. Our facility is easily accessible by MBTA, bicycle, and car (off-street parking).
