    Description

    Scholarship Mentor

Mentorship is a component of the PROSPER Academic Scholarship Program. This Scholarship Program is designed to help high-achieving refugee or asylee students (who are ineligible for financial aid through the FAFSA or Free Application for Federal Student Aid) secure financial and personal assistance to help assure student success and retention in college. Mentors from the community are matched with scholarship recipients, the mentees, and meet monthly to ascertain student progress, experiences and help them network in their area of study. Mentors have the opportunity to share their experiences and expertise and leave a legacy by guiding others’ professional development and helping them remove barriers that enable the mentee to progress academically and professionally. Mentees can gain valuable knowledge and skills from the mentor’s expertise and experience, learn important tools to be successful as they enter the workforce, and establish valuable connections with the community.
