    About The Asylum Project

The Asylum Project is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to make safety possible when systems don’t. We help targeted and marginalized Americans—especially LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and disabled individuals—access pathways to sanctuary and stability both domestically and abroad. Our mission is to build exits for those trapped in injustice through data-driven programs, advocacy, and education.

    Position Summary

The Resource Researcher helps expand our knowledge base of practical resources—housing, immigration, legal aid, healthcare, and relocation support—for people seeking refuge and safety. This role is ideal for detail-oriented individuals passionate about social impact, equity, and systemic change.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Identify, verify, and catalog credible resources across the U.S. and internationally.
    • Maintain and update shared research databases within Google Workspace.
    • Summarize findings clearly for use in internal tools, reports, and community guides.
    • Collaborate with the Operations and Program teams to prioritize areas of need.
    • Monitor emerging policies, funding programs, and mutual-aid initiatives relevant to our mission.

    Preferred Skills and Qualities

    • Strong research and writing skills.
    • Familiarity with nonprofit, social justice, or humanitarian work.
    • Ability to synthesize complex information clearly and compassionately.
    • Comfort using Google Sheets, Docs, and online databases.
    • Curiosity, empathy, and respect for confidentiality.

    What You’ll Gain

    • Experience in nonprofit operations and applied research.
    • Mentorship and professional references from senior staff.
    • The chance to make a tangible impact on marginalized communities.
