2025-2026 Substitute Reading Tutors for 1st and 2nd grade (STAIR)-Annapolis

STAIR-Annapolis, Start The Adventure In Reading, is a twice-weekly, AFTER SCHOOL literacy tutoring program for Anne Arundel County Public School first and second grade students reading below grade level. Tutors work one-on-one with a student for an hour-45 minute long session, and we offer our volunteers the flexibility to choose their level of commitment: one day per week, two days per week, or as a substitute on an as-needed basis. Stair-Annapolis has 15 sites throughout Anne Arundel County and we place tutors at sites that are convenient to their home. We are still in need of one day tutors at a few sites and substitute tutors at all of our sites for Fall 2025.

I will have a short 45 minute Zoom information sessions during the fall that will introduce you to the STAIR program. Please fill out an online application or visit our website to fill out an application.

Once you attend the information session and decide to tutor (we know you will!) , there will also be a required two hour curriculum training session that will be scheduled at various dates throughout the year.
