Spiritual Care Volunteer Opportunity
Details
Description
Make a meaningful difference when patients and families need it most.
Northbay Health is seeking compassionate volunteers to serve as Spiritual Care Advisors. This is an opportunity to provide comfort, support, and a caring presence to patients and families who may be experiencing illness, uncertainty, grief, fear, or other challenging life circumstances.
Spiritual Care Advisors offer a listening ear and supportive presence while respecting each person's individual beliefs, values, culture, and preferences. Volunteers may visit with patients, provide emotional and spiritual support, listen to concerns, and help patients connect with their own sources of meaning, hope, strength, and comfort.
This volunteer opportunity is open to people of all faith traditions, as well as individuals who approach spiritual care from an interfaith or nonreligious perspective. Proselytizing or promoting a particular religious belief is not part of this role.

We are looking for individuals who are:
- Compassionate, empathetic, and good listeners
- Comfortable being present with people experiencing difficult circumstances
- Respectful of diverse faith traditions, beliefs, and backgrounds
- Emotionally mature and able to maintain appropriate boundaries
- Dependable and professional
- Interested in supporting patients and families in a healthcare environment
Experience in chaplaincy, pastoral care, ministry, spiritual direction, hospice, bereavement support, counseling, social services, or healthcare is helpful but not required.

Volunteers will receive orientation and training to help them understand the role, patient privacy and confidentiality, hospital expectations, and appropriate boundaries when providing spiritual care.
