Ambassadors staff the Downtown Oceanside Information Booth, where they greet visitors, share recommendations for local businesses and attractions, and provide helpful information to enhance the downtown experience. Each two-hour shift is staffed by two volunteers, making this a great opportunity to serve alongside friends or family while helping welcome visitors to the community.
The Downtown Ambassador information booth is located on Pier View Way near the pedestrian underpass at the corner of Pier View Way and N Myers Street. This is a busy pedestrian corridor connecting the beach, transit center, and Downtown Oceanside businesses, making it a common route for visitors exploring the area.
Volunteers must attend a program training session in the MainStreet Oceanside office located at 701 Mission Ave before the Ambassador Program begins. During training, they will receive program information, materials, and guidance for assisting visitors. For volunteer shifts, volunteers will go directly to the information booth at the start of their scheduled shift.
Because the role takes place outdoors in a high-traffic downtown area, volunteers should wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing and be prepared to stand, greet visitors, and answer questions about Downtown Oceanside.
