- *THIS IS A NON-PAID VOLUNTEER POSITION WITH THE RED CROSS**
As a Volunteer Blood Transportation Specialist, you will be integral to the efficient, safe transport and timely delivery of blood products to hospitals and labs from the collection sites. You will be transporting blood products to hospitals with patients in urgent needs. Your ability to handle heavy lifting and driving responsibilities is essential for this role. Join us in making a significant impact on community health through your dedication to service.
Time Commitment:
- Must sign up for scheduled shifts
- Sign up for at least 2 shifts a month (flexible)
- On-call shift to deliver emergency blood orders to hospitals
- Weekends are preferred but Thursdays and Fridays are super helpful
REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness to support the Red Cross mission, required ·
- Valid state driver's license and 3 years of licensed driving experience required
- Ability to drive a few miles around or up to an hour from location
- Age 18+ ·
- Comfortable using smart phones and mobile apps
- Familiarity with geographic area and driving routes, required
- Able to verify safe driving record (Note: An MVR check will be completed as a part of the interview process for this position), required
- Current insurance and state registration if using personal vehicle, required ·
- Ability to lift 45 lbs., required
- Successful completion of American Red Cross Transportation Specialist Training and Defensive Driving course and Red Cross Delivers Training, required
- Must be willing to drive from Syracuse, NY to Watertown, NY. Must have flexibility and willing to drive company vehicle, required
