    Description

    Generational Wealth Educators (GWE) is seeking a committed, detail-oriented volunteer to serve as Board Secretary. This key governance role ensures that our board operations run smoothly, transparently, and in full compliance with nonprofit standards.

    The Secretary serves as the official record-keeper and communicator of board activity, supporting our mission to empower underserved communities through financial literacy, wellness, and wealth-building education.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Accurately record and maintain minutes of board meetings, committee meetings, and the Annual Meeting
    • Distribute draft minutes to the Board of Directors and the Executive Director for timely review
    • Maintain up-to-date copies of GWE’s bylaws, board policies, and Robert’s Rules of Order
    • Post approved minutes and key documents to the board portal or shared drive
    • Ensure timely notification of board meetings in accordance with the bylaws
    • Assist in the collection and documentation of annual Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality forms
    • Support internal communications, including correspondence to and from the board
    • Help with the coordination of committee formation and governance events
    • Maintain the board calendar and ensure meeting follow-ups are organized and documented

    Ideal Candidate

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
    • Familiarity with nonprofit governance (or willingness to learn)
    • Comfortable using shared drives, document management tools, and video conferencing platforms
    • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
    • Passion for economic equity, education, and community empowerment
