    Description

Brady Gun Violence Prevention Grassroots Academy

When everything feels crazy and overwhelming its important to focus on what feels tangible and on things we can control. For all of us, we can control how we respond. On our Organizing Team at Brady, this is something we have thought a lot about, and as we have learned in our organizing conversations with so many of our volunteers, there is a strong desire to know: What can I do that is REALLY going to make a difference?

This is why we created our first-ever Brady Virtual Gun Violence Prevention Grassroots Academy, starting June 3rd, 2026, and running for 12 weeks through the end of August.

At Brady, and our youth-organizing program Team ENOUGH, we have a lot of experience training folks across the country about the different components of advocacy, whether that is through multi-day workshops, presentations to schools/professional organizations, embedded organizing-in-residency programs or virtual cohort-based advocacy trainings like our Youth Advocacy Training Programs.

We have taken what we have learned from these programs over the years and integrated it into this Virtual Gun Violence Prevention Grassroots Academy. As part of that, each participant will have a coach and small group that they are a part of, which will be your place to discuss, debrief and dialogue about our Weekly Wednesday Webinar, which is the core of the program.

Throughout the 12 weeks, we will have the time and space to go deep on the skillset of organizing (what is it? how does it work? how can you do it?) while also really getting the chance to dig in and learn more about the core enabler of the crisis of gun violence, which is the Gun Lobby itself.

Like so many problems we experience in society, the crisis of gun violence continues and gets worse because there are gun companies, quite literally, making BILLIONS off of creating violence here in the US and exporting it abroad.

Over the course of the Grassroots Academy, we will have the chance to dive deep into the details with experts from across our networks at Brady and spend time putting this knowledge into practice through small group breakouts, interactive role-play exercises, and one-on-one coaching. Our goal is that by the end of the Academy, you feel:

    • Confident, equipped with the hard and soft skills you need to organize in your community
    • A sense of belonging, purpose, motivation, and shared responsibility in the movement to prevent gun violence
    • A radical sense of hope and possibility about creating a future free from gun violence in your lifetime

We all have a role to play in building peace in our communities, and we want to make sure you graduate the Academy knowing what your role is and have a network of people who can support you.

We want YOU to join us for our 2026 Brady Virtual Gun Violence Prevention Grassroots Academy. This program is open to anyone 13 or older and starts June 3rd! Sign up NOW and become a changemaker in your community.
