Become a Companion Volunteer – Make a Meaningful Impact
Oklahoma Palliative and Hospice Care is always looking for compassionate, dedicated volunteers to spend time with our patients. Many of our patients are homebound and have limited interaction with the outside world. Your presence can bring comfort, joy and connections, sometimes even giving caregivers a much-needed break.
What Volunteers Do:
Volunteers visit patients in their homes or in nursing facilities to provide companionship through simple, meaningful activities such as:
- Friendly conversation
- Coloring or crafts
- Watching TV or movies
- Reading aloud
- Playing bingo or games
- Listening to music
- Provide Respite for Caregivers
Note: Volunteers do not perform any medical or skilled nursing tasks.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Complete a volunteer application and training
- Pass a background check and fingerprinting
- Provide a valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance
- Complete a TB (tuberculosis) test
- Must be 16 years or older
