    Captain Kidd's Pirate Day

    Kalmar Nyckel Foundation’s 6th annual Captain Kidd’s Pirate Day returns with free ship tours, cannon and blacksmith demonstrations, treasure hunts, and pirate crafts.

    Captain Kidd's Pirate Day 2026

    Event Date: Saturday, May 23, 2026

    Event Time: 12pm - 4pm

    Volunteer Shifts: Morning shift 11:00am-2:30pm; afternoon shift 2:15pm-5:00pm

    Location: Kalmar Nyckel Foundation, 1124 E 7th St, Wilmington, DE 19801

    Target Attendance: 1000 - 1,200

    Roles for volunteers include:

    • Build-A-Boat Attendant - Help kids build toy boats.
    • Coloring Assistant - Help kids color/create historical flags.
    • Decorating Treasure Chest Assistant - Help with craft.
    • Watercraft of the World - Distribute scavenger hunts, help with questions & answers.
    • Treasure Hunt Attendant - Setup riddles and explain the hunt.
    • Parking Crew: Guide visitors in our parking lot, etc.
    • Attendee Counter: Use a clicker to count visitors.
    • Misc. Event Support: Lend a hand in the gift shop support, replacing trash bags, giving Adventure Course wristbands.

    No event experience necessary! We'll provide detailed instructions and brief tutorials on the day of the event about how to fulfill roles effectively.
