    Description

Students Needed for "Witness Theater"- telling Holocaust stories through theater

Are you a high school student or college freshman looking for a meaningful community service project this upcoming school year? You can help Holocaust survivors tell their stories and as well as create meaningful relationships with fellow students and survivors.

Witness Theater, now in its 14th year, is a unique intergenerational program that engages high school students and Holocaust survivors to tell impactful survivor stories.

Here's how it works: Students and survivors meet weekly over the course of the academic year with a trained drama therapist, culminating in shared public performances in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Program begins end of September 2025 through early May 2026.

    Students in Witness Theater will:

    • Earn up to 120 community service hours for participation
    • Create long lasting relationships with Holocaust survivors
    • Listen to Holocaust survivors' wartime stories firsthand
    • Portray the life experiences of Holocaust survivors in a theatrical performance

    Program details:

When: one evening 5:30-7:30 pm every week from mid-September through mid-May, plus rehearsals on Sundays from 10 am - 2pm beginning the end of January 2026.

    Where: 520 8th Avenue, 5th floor, Manhattan, NY, 10018

    No prior theater experience required!
