If your school requires an internship agreement, learning objectives, evaluation form, supervisor verification, or other documentation, please disclose those requirements during the application process so they can be reviewed before placement.

    Nonclinical Healthcare Internship

This is a nonclinical hospice internship and is not a nursing clinical rotation, physician shadowing program, or substitute for required clinical education.

    Student interns do not independently:

    • Administer medications
    • Perform medical procedures
    • Provide medical advice
    • Conduct clinical assessments
    • Take on licensed clinical responsibilities
    • Provide hands-on personal care
    • Perform nursing duties
    • Make treatment decisions
    • Transport patients unless separately authorized

Instead, interns gain experience through patient interaction, healthcare professionalism, hospice operations, administrative projects, family-support activities, and meaningful human connection.

    Basic Requirements

    Applicants should be:

    • Compassionate
    • Dependable
    • Respectful
    • Professional
    • Willing to learn
    • Comfortable interacting with patients and families when assigned
    • Able to follow directions and organizational policies
    • Willing to maintain strict patient confidentiality
    • Able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries

    • Hospice orientation
    • Confidentiality/HIPAA training
    • Assignment-specific training

Additional requirements may apply depending on the internship assignment.

    Why Choose a Hospice Internship?

If you're considering a career helping people, hospice allows you to experience one of the most important parts of healthcare:

    Being present.

    During your internship, you may:

    • Spend time talking with a patient about their favorite music
    • Help someone preserve an important memory
    • Play cards or complete an activity with someone who could use company
    • Help prepare a remembrance project for a grieving family
    • Assist with a healthcare administrative project
    • Learn how a hospice organization supports patients and families
    • Observe how compassion, communication, and professionalism shape the patient experience
    • Simply sit and listen

Small moments can have an incredible impact.

    Start Building Experience That Matters

You don't need to know everything about healthcare.

You don't need to know exactly what to say.

You need to be willing to: Listen. Learn. Show up. Be kind. Be professional. Be dependable.

We'll provide the training and guidance needed for your assigned role.
