    Description

Casa Milagro | Santa Fe, NM | Volunteer Board Position

Casa Milagro is expanding its Board of Directors and seeking someone with strengths in governance, administration, operations, compliance, project management, HR, legal work, or organizational leadership.

Our goal is not simply to add another name to the Board. We are looking for someone who enjoys helping organizations work well: clear meetings, good records, defined responsibilities, follow-through, appropriate policies, and strong governance practices.

    What you would help with

This Board member would help Casa Milagro:

    • Strengthen Board governance and organizational processes
    • Maintain clear action items, responsibilities, and follow-up
    • Support effective Board meetings and records
    • Review and improve bylaws, policies, and governance practices as needed
    • Assist with Board recruitment and onboarding
    • Help ensure responsibilities are clearly divided between Board governance and staff management
    • Participate in strategic planning and organizational oversight
    • Contribute to fundraising and community engagement along with the rest of the Board

The successful candidate may eventually be interested in serving as Board Secretary, but new members are not required to accept an officer position immediately.

    Possible backgrounds

    Strong candidates might come from:

    • Nonprofit administration
    • Operations or project management
    • Legal or compliance work
    • Human resources
    • Government/public administration
    • Board governance
    • Executive administration
    • Business management
    • Organizational development

Prior Board experience is welcome but not required.

What matters most is reliability, good judgment, organization, willingness to ask questions, and consistent follow-through.

    Commitment

    • One regular Board meeting each month
    • Review of meeting materials in advance
    • Approximately 2–4 additional hours per month for Board work and follow-up

Santa Fe/northern New Mexico participation is preferred, although remote participation may be possible for the right candidate.

Board service is voluntary and unpaid.
