OHS WRC Director Volunteer Description
Job Title: Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Director
Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Program: We take in injured and orphaned urban wildlife from the Tri Cities, rehabilitate them and release them back to the wild.
OHS Mission Statement:
Ohlone Humane Society strives to inspire respect and compassion for all animals, advocate for their interests and welfare, and instill in our community that all living beings have a right to be treated humanely.
Ohlone Humane Society is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that serves the Tri-City area in the East Bay. We care for animals and the community through humane programs and services. Ohlone Humane Society is privately funded and relies on the generous support of our community through donations and volunteering.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs as well as understand its collective purpose
- Faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements and board materials in advance of meetings
- Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization
- Fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission
- Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to achieve the organization’s mission
- Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing, and influence public policy
- Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings
- Participate fully in one or more committees or task forces
- Engage in learning opportunities to better understand the community we serve
- Conduct annual performance reviews of paid staff members
- Respect the experiences of all who bring their voices and lived experiences into the boardroom and the organization

Required time expected:
- 10-20 hours per week
- Training can be onsite or virtual
- Will need to be trained on how to do monthly report, how to calculate monthly volunteer hours on Signup.com and how to use Wildlife Rehabilitation MD
- Complete driving requirements for OHS
- Attend monthly board meetings
