Join YPCommunities’ Pathways Program for an opportunity to build your portfolio, expand your network, and gain hands-on experience in community-centered fundraising and social impact work. This role is ideal for students, recent graduates, career changers, and emerging professionals interested in copywriting, grant writing, marketing, nonprofit fundraising, strategy, or equitable economic development.

As a Grant Writer, you will create compelling, persuasive, and engaging content that clearly communicates YPCommunities’ mission and impact. You’ll help translate research, data, and real-world outcomes into meaningful stories that resonate with funders and inspire support.

    What you may work on:

    • Develop fundraising materials including grants, letters of inquiry (LOIs), and case statements
    • Write and refine templates for outreach to grantmakers and funders
    • Create and maintain organizational boilerplate language and program narratives
    • Compile and document past successes, outcomes, and impact stories
    • Build a resource library including funder FAQs and internal reference documents
    • Prepare and submit grant applications and LOIs
    • Write reports to funders detailing outcomes, metrics, and use of funds
    • Ensure all submissions align with grant requirements and guidelines
    • Collaborate with grant researchers, the Grants/Funder Manager, and Development Committee

This opportunity is designed to help participants gain:

    • Portfolio-ready writing samples in fundraising and grant writing
    • Real-world experience in nonprofit development and social impact
    • Strengthened writing, research, and analytical skills
    • Mentorship and practical guidance from experienced professionals
    • Opportunities to grow your network within a mission-driven community

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Strong written communication and storytelling ability
    • Attention to detail and ability to follow guidelines closely
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
    • Effective time management and organizational skills
    • Proven ability to meet deadlines
