    About VPWA

Volunteer Partnerships for West Africa (VPWA) is a non-profit, community-driven organisation committed to education, health, and sustainable development across Ghana. As part of our mission to improve access to quality education, VPWA is supporting the establishment of a new school in Accra that runs the Cambridge curriculum and promotes holistic child development.

    Role Purpose

The Early Years Educator volunteer will play a vital role in supporting the growth of the new school by assisting in the delivery of high-quality early childhood education. The volunteer will work with young learners (ages 2–7) to foster creativity, literacy, numeracy, social skills, and emotional development, aligned with the Cambridge Early Years framework.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Facilitate learning through play, storytelling, music, art, and hands-on exploration.
    • Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
    • Support children in developing foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and communication.
    • Engage with parents and guardians where appropriate to strengthen the home-school connection.
    • Contribute to the development of learning resources, displays, and classroom organisation.
    • Assist with extra-curricular activities that promote holistic child development.
    • Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events.

    Requirements

    • Previous experience in teaching, childcare, or a related field (formal or informal).
    • Ability to adapt to multicultural and resource-constrained environments.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Creativity, patience, and a nurturing attitude.
    • Commitment to VPWA’s values of service, collaboration, and empowerment.
    • A background in Early Childhood Education, Montessori, Cambridge, or similar frameworks is an asset but not mandatory.
