    Description

Recruiting Foster Care Review Board Members / Norfolk and other areas in Northeast NE

The Nebraska Foster Care Review Office is seeking 4-6 volunteers from the northeast region of Nebraska to serve as a Review Board Member on one of several Review Boards that meet virtually once a month to review the cases of children and youth in foster care from the York, Norfolk, Madison, Fremont, South Sioux and all other areas in between within the Northern area of the state. Review Board member volunteers review up to 5 case summaries a month in preparation for the review board meeting once a month. Volunteers make recommendations that may help to move the case forward and these are written into a report by a FCRO staff person and submitted to the court and legal parties.

We are looking for mental health and health professionals, educators, social workers (not working for the child welfare system), substance abuse counselors, school counselors, advocates, those with experience in the areas of domestic violence, housing, early childhood development, teens, and individuals with experience or an interest in the best interests of children and families.

Must be non-biased and non-judgmental and follow our strict confidentiality policy. Boards meet once a month at the same day, time and place. Plan on 4 hours to review the cases from home prior to the meeting on the FCRO secure ShareFile site and then attend the board meeting that will last an average of 2.5 hours (1 x per month).

Potential review board members must complete an application, a background check and have excellent references. Training is provided. Two Review Boards are meeting in person others are meeting virtually by zoom once a month.
