    Description

    English Teachers in Colombia

    Program Overview

This volunteer teaching opportunity invites qualified educators to work in Colombia with children, teenagers, and adults in community-based educational settings. The program understands teaching as a socially transformative practice that strengthens learning, emotional development, and human connection. Volunteers contribute to long-term educational processes rather than short-term instructional interventions.

    Teaching Locations

Teaching placements are available in Bogotá, Villavicencio, and Montería, Córdoba. Each location offers a distinct social and cultural context, allowing educators to experience diverse Colombian communities. Volunteers engage directly with local learners while developing cultural awareness and professional growth.

    Target Populations

Volunteers work with children, adolescents, and adult learners across different educational levels. Instruction focuses on language development, foundational learning skills, personal growth, and social awareness. Teaching approaches emphasize empathy, dialogue, and respect for lived experience.

    Required Qualifications

A TEFL certificate is required for participation in this program. Teaching experience is highly valued, particularly experience working with diverse or underserved populations. Candidates should demonstrate cultural sensitivity, ethical commitment, and a genuine interest in education as a relational practice.

    Stipend and Benefits

The program offers a monthly stipend of COP $3,000,000 to support living expenses during the placement. Visa sponsorship is provided, ensuring legal authorization to work in Colombia for the duration of the program. This structure allows volunteers to focus fully on teaching and community engagement.

    Time Commitment

The required commitment is 11 months, designed to promote continuity and meaningful educational impact. This extended duration supports relationship-building with students and communities. Consistency remains central to the program’s educational philosophy.

    Program Dates

The program begins on January 19 and concludes during the first week of December 2026. Volunteers must be available for the full duration of the placement. These dates align with the academic and community program calendar.

    Ideal Candidate Profile

This opportunity suits educators seeking purposeful international experience rooted in social responsibility rather than tourism. Volunteers should value education as a humanizing process that integrates academic learning with emotional and social development. Commitment, professionalism, and adaptability are essential qualities for success.
