About the role
Ready for a feel-good role with real impact? Advance affordable housing on Long Island and turn our Habitat for Humanity home store from a best-kept secret into a community staple.
If you’re upbeat, mission-driven, and love creating scroll-stopping content, this role is for you. You’ll create, post, and engage across our channels, capture photos/videos on building sites and at our Habitat ReStore, and turn analytics into simple insights that grow our community.
What you’ll do
- Plan, create, schedule, and publish content for Habitat Long Island and our home store (ReStore) across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube—tailored to each platform.
- Actively engage followers through comments, DMs, reviews, and social listening
- Capture on-brand photos and short-form video; organize and maintain our photo/video library.
- Grow followers, reach, and engagement using experiments, A/B tests, and simple content calendars.
- Update our websites
- Support wall-raises, dedications, and ReStore promotions; occasional evenings/weekends for events.
- Pitch in with related tasks as needed.
What you’ll bring
- Enthusiasm for our mission and a positive, proactive communication style.
- 2+ years of hands-on social media experience/digital content creation
- Strong writing, editing, and captioning skills with attention to accuracy and tone.
- Exceptional photo/video skills and comfort creating Reels/shorts.
- Experience with email marketing (Mailchimp/Constant Contact), WordPress, Google Analytics 4, basic SEO, and simple ad setup.
- Reliable transportation to sites across Long Island.

This is a hybrid volunteer opportunity. Most of the work can be done virtually, but we would need you to be able to pop in to capture pics and videos at the ReStore and on our build sites.
