Oppia is looking for passionate individuals to join our Practice Questions Team to help implement practice questions on our site, as well as come up with new questions to help students practice their skills and master the subjects they are learning.

Who We Are

The Oppia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to provide high quality education to all. We do this through the creation and maintenance of our free-to-use platform, Oppia (https://www.oppia.org), the coordination of our passionate contributors, and the development of critical partnerships with NGOs in the communities we aim to serve. Our lessons have reached over 2,000,000 users, and learners using our basic mathematics curriculum have seen gains of over 50% from pre-test to post-test.

Where You Fit In

Millions of children are not receiving the education they deserve. Of the 61 million children worldwide who cannot attend primary school, 17 million will never step foot into a school if trends continue. In the wake of COVID-19, millions more children have also seen interruptions in their daily lives, stability, and education - making it even more difficult than before for many students to get the education they need to succeed. Oppia provides free resources that can be used online and offline, so that these learners can use to develop their skills and get the feedback they need to master them.

We are looking to build upon our basic mathematics curriculum and further engage learners by developing practice questions. We’ve found that learners who struggle with a mathematics topic need practice with lots of varied questions that approach the same concept from different viewpoints. Currently, we are creating a question bank for key skills that students want to learn, so that they can use them to practice and improve their skills beyond the classroom.

We are currently seeking detail-oriented individuals who can help create these practice questions questions. This includes writing succinct and clear explanations, and identifying common misconceptions that learners face, so that they can understand their errors and self-correct. We welcome individuals who are willing to learn and grow through this opportunity, and are happy to guide those without formal experience in curriculum development or creating educational material.

What is Required of Our Practice Questions Team Members

• Create new practice questions based on specific skills
• Revise questions based on feedback received to ensure that they meet a high quality bar
• Review questions submitted by other contributors
• Give weekly updates of contributions
