Seeking a Visionary Leader: Board President at Global Resource for Advancing Cancer Education (GRACE)

Seeking a Visionary Leader: Board President at Global Resource for Advancing Cancer Education (GRACE)

Are you a strategic leader passionate about democratizing cancer education and looking for a way to give back to the patient community?

The Global Resource for Advancing Cancer Education (GRACE), a largely digitally based educational nonprofit that has grown over nearly 20 years, is looking for its next Board President to lead our dedicated Board of Directors. In a world where a cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming, GRACE provides the expert-mediated information patients and caregivers need to feel empowered to become their own best advocates.

As we continue to expand our global reach and impact, we are looking for a strategic, hands-on Board President to help shape our future direction, guide our governance, support our fundraising efforts, and champion our mission.

    About The Role

As the volunteer President of an all-volunteer Board of Directors, you will play both a strategic and active role in guiding board engagement, supporting fundraising initiatives, and strengthening governance and community partnerships. This is a non-compensated, volunteer leadership position.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Strategic Leadership: Partner with the Executive Director and Board to set long-term goals and ensure mission alignment.
    • Board Governance: Facilitate effective board meetings (every 2 months) and ensure committees remain active and productive.
    • Development: Lead by example in donor stewardship and help identify new corporate and private partnership opportunities.
    • Mission Advocacy: Act as a champion for GRACE, representing our values and mission within the oncology, industry, and philanthropic communities to increase our global visibility.
    • Accountability: Ensure the organization maintains the highest standards of nonprofit transparency and fiscal responsibility.

    Who You Are

    • An Experienced Leader: You have a background in nonprofit governance, healthcare administration, business, or community leadership. Prior board experience preferred, but mission alignment and commitment to impact are most important.
    • Mission-Driven & Values-Aligned: You have a deep passion for cancer education and a commitment to maintaining the integrity, empathy, and patient-first values that define GRACE..
    • A Facilitator: You excel at moving groups toward consensus and turning ideas into actionable plans.

    Commitment & Structure

    • Term: 3 years (negotiable). The official start date is September 1, 2026, though an earlier transition/onboarding period is available and encouraged.
    • Meetings: 90-minute virtual board meetings every two months; regular check-ins with committee members and the Executive Director.
    • Location: Remote. (We prefer U.S.-based candidates but welcome international leaders who can maintain consistent availability during U.S. time zones).

    The Impact

By joining GRACE, you aren’t just joining a Board of Directors; you are ensuring that patients and caregivers around the world have access to expertise from leading cancer specialists, at no cost. You will help to lead an international team of changemakers to provide clarity and empowerment to millions of patients and caregivers worldwide.
