    Description

    ReadingPal Volunteer (Pre-K Mentor)

Do you have a passion for education, an excitement for reading, or a desire to impact a child's life? You can make a difference in as little as 45 minutes per week. Become a ReadingPal!

ReadingPals is a one-on-one Pre-K mentoring program. With a focus on learning through play, ReadingPal mentors are matched 1-on-1 with a prekindergarten student to help them build early-literacy and social-emotional skills for kindergarten readiness. Themed literacy kits, books, puzzles, Play-Doh, coloring materials, and other developmentally-appropriate activities are supplied. Volunteers receive training and ongoing support. No experience necessary!

Volunteers are asked to make a commitment to meet with their student 45 minutes per week for the duration of the school year, or you may partner with a friend and alternate weeks. Mentoring sessions run each school year September through May.

Volunteers are needed at the following locations for the 2025-26 school year:

    • Brentwood Elementary
    • C.A. Weis Elementary
    • Holm Elementary
    • Ferry Pass Elementary
    • Global Learning Academy
    • Montclair Elementary
    • O.J. Semmes Elementary
    • West Pensacola Elementary

A successful background check and a national fingerprint-based criminal history screening is required. Volunteers must be able to work independently with young children.

Please include your email and phone number when contacting us about this opportunity, and we look forward to having you volunteer with us!
