    Description

Volunteer Opportunity: Bereavement Phone Call Volunteer

Make a meaningful difference from the comfort of your home.

Intermountain Health Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers to support individuals and families during their grief journey. As a Bereavement Phone Call Volunteer, you will help provide caring outreach and connect families with available grief support resources following the loss of a loved one.

    What You'll Do

    • Make supportive phone calls to family members approximately 3 months and 12 months after a loved one has passed.
    • Provide information about hospice grief support services and encourage individuals to connect with bereavement coordinators when needed.
    • Offer a listening ear and help identify the support systems available to those who are grieving.
    • Share non-clinical observations with the hospice bereavement team.

    Training & Support

No prior experience is required. Volunteers receive individualized training and ongoing support from our Bereavement Coordinators before making calls independently. Please note 12 hours of orientation (from home) is required.

    Volunteer Commitment

    • Flexible schedule.
    • Calls can typically be made from the comfort of your home.
    • Volunteers choose the number of calls they are comfortable completing.
    • Opportunities are available throughout the month, with call volumes averaging 80-100 calls monthly across the program.

    Ideal Volunteer

We are looking for individuals who are:

    • Compassionate and empathetic
    • Comfortable speaking on the phone
    • Good listeners
    • Reliable and respectful of confidentiality
    • Interested in supporting individuals experiencing grief and loss

    Why Volunteer?

A simple phone call can remind someone that they are not alone. By offering compassionate outreach, you can help grieving individuals access support and feel connected during a difficult time.

Help bring comfort, connection, and support to families when it matters most. Join our Bereavement Volunteer Team today
